Partners
EGEE project is solved by several tenths institutes - comprising official project partners - from all European countries, from Russia and USA.
The Czech republic participates in the project through CESNET institute - Czech academic network operator and participant in corresponding international projects (part in Dante project, membership in TERENA association, international partnership in Internet2 consortium and participation in European project GN2).
Just few more countries are involved in EGEE through their national academic network operator as is the Czech republic. These are especially national grid or scientific agencies (particularly from high energy physics area or umbrella scientific organizations as French CNRS), in all other cases the concrete research institutes and universities are involved in EGEE project. The engagement through national academic operator enables better coordination of computational, data and network resources and their future development. Moreover several universities and institutes form non-official project partners;that are not funded by the project but significantly participate in the project.
It is expected that each official project partner will bring concrete grid infrastructure (computers, data capacities, computer connectivity) and EGEE will provide fundings primarily for management of the whole system and partially for necessary development and re-engineering of required software equipment. The majority of the partners will have the role of resource centers providing computational resources and data capacity as well as duties in user and applications support including organizations of seminars and courses for grid and EGEE information dissemination.
Actual state of infrastructure is described here.
